Frequently Asked Questions
General, Dog Walking, Pet Sitting, Adeventures,
General:
Q: Does my dog need shots or medications? If so, what do they need?
A: For everyone's safety, all dogs need to be current with DHLPP, Rabies , and Bordetella vaccines. I also require that your dog is on a monthly flea medication.
Q: What happens if my dog has fleas?
A: If you know your dog has fleas, please contact me and let me know as I am unable to walk dogs with fleas for health reasons.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: You can cancel at any time. For dog walks or pet sitting if I am on the way to your house or at your house there is a 50% charge. For my adeventures if you cancel within two days before the day we leave it will be a 50% charge of the original price.
Q: How do you get into the house?
A: There are several ways I can access your house. If you have a door code or lock box for a key, you can provide the code for me to access. You can provide a copy of your key which will only be accessible by me. Alternatively, if you have a key hidden on your property you can share the location of the key with me and I can use it to enter.
Q: What happens if a hidden key is not where it's supposed to be?
A: I will contact you to see if there is a place that you think the key might be or if there is another way into the house. For dog walks I can only wait so long for your answer. If I have other dogs to pick up I will go pick them up and come back if you have texted me. If you are the last stop on my pick up route I will wait 5 minutes before I have to leave to keep the other dogs on scheule. If you reply later and I have an opening for them I will fit them in with another group or try and make another arangment with you. If it is for house sitting I will text you and wait 5 minutes for an answer if there is none in those 5 minutes as long as I get a text back by a reasonable time at night I will go back that night. Extra charges might be applied.
Dog Walking:
Q: Does my dog have to be neutered/spayed?
A: I am happy to walk any dog that is compatible with the group. As with any dog, if there are any safety concerns, I would be unable to invite them into the group. For safety reasons I am unable to walk female dogs that are in heat.
Q: Do I need a schedule for my dog to get walked?
A: Because I walk a maximum of 3 dogs, I highly recommend a schedule. If you don't have a schedule, I am still happy to accomodate your request if there is an opening.
Q: Do you use an app to track your walks? (How do i know my dog went on a walk?)
A: I use Time To Pet for all of our walks. Time to Pet uses GPS to track every walk from beginning to end. Once the walk is complete, you will receive an email report on how the walk went as well as at least one picture of your dog on the walk.
Q: Are harnesses required?
A: Harnesses are required for safety. You choose to provide your own or I can provide a harness for your dog.
Q: Do I need a leash at home for you to use?
A: You do not need to provide a leash, I have many available to use during walks.
Q: What happens if my dog gets dirty on the walk?
A: I will try my best to keep off of dirt paths when it's muddy but if your pet gets muddy or wet, I will use my towels to get them as clean and dry as possible before leaving.
Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: I will notify you via text or phone call if I think the conditions are too dangerous to walk. If it's safe to drive and be outside, I will offer a 10 minute "potty break" option so your dog can get out and go potty.
Q: What happens if I want a walk on a holiday?
A: I do not offer walks on Fouth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, or New Year's eve. Other holidays that land on Monday through Friday will go on as planned.
Q: What if you have concerns on the walk?
A: If I have time sensitive concerns, I will contact you right away by text or call. If our concerns are less pressing (i.e. your dog's poop isn't normal, they have a limp, they are shaking their head a lot, ect.) the Time To Pet app has the option to communicate via the walking notes or the conversation function.
Q: What happens if my dog gets injured on the walk?
A: In the very rare case that your dog gets hurt I will call you and decide on what the next course of action will be.
Q: What if I notice before the walk that your dog is hurt:
A: If I notice an injury that I was not aware of or that I have not seen before, I will text or call you and discuss how to proceed.
Pet sitting:
Q: What if I want a light left on or plants watered or mail brought in ect.?
A: I would be happy to accomidate you requests. I've had people who's animals feel better if the tap is running a little bit or if the tv/radio is going. If any of these things are on (tv, lights, radios ect.) when I come I will not turn them off unless you text me and ask me to. I will text if there is water running or something that could potentially lead to harm of the house. If they take a long time there might be an extra charge for my time.
Q: Will you turn anything in while you are there?
A: They only things I will turn on are lights to be able to see. However what ever lights I turn on I will turn off when I leave.
Q: Will you come even if the weather conditions are bad?
A: As long as it is safe to drive I will come to your house to take care of your animals.
Q: House maintence?
A: If the weather deviates from what you thought it was going to do I am happy to help with some things like turning on the ac or heat or turn on faucets for the pipes to not freeze. I will update you on things that seem to be off like if it seems like the power went out or if there is a leak or things like that.
Adventures:
Q: Where will my dog sleep on the camping adventures?
A: They will sleep where ever we are weather that is in a tent or in the bed of my truck they will be with us.
Q: What happens if my dog gets ingured on the trip?
A: Depending on what happens is what will decide what happens next. In the unlikely and rare occasion that your dog gets hurt badly we will stop the adventure, head back and will call you to see what you would like us to do next. If your dog wakes up sore we will take it slow that day.
Q: Where will you go with them?
A: We do not have set places where we go. It will constantly change.
Q: Do you track your Adventures?
A: Unlike my walks we will not track our adeventures. A lot of the places that we go we do not get consistant cellphone service. If you have airtags or other things to track your dog you are welcome to put them on for our adventures.
Q: How many dogs are allowed on your adventures?
A: For the day adventures we allow one family or up to three dogs. However we might just take one dog (or one family) at a time, it truely depends on the dogs and where we are going. For the camping adeventures we allow one family or two dogs only. As it is a longer time we try and limit the amount of dogs that we take with us for many reasons.
Q: Will you have "waitlists" for your adventures?
A: We are open to putting your name down in case someone cancels for an adventure. We do not guarantee that if someone cancels that we will bring in another dog.
Q: Is my dog allowed off leash for these adventures?
A: For the most case no. For select dogs that might be a possibility. We do have about 25ft and 50ft long leashes that we can attach you dog to on our hikes and at the campsites.
Q: What happens if the weather is bad? What happens if it gets bad while you are out?
A: Depending on how bad the weather is we will still go. If the weather is bad for where we are planning to go we will look at other areas to see if the weather is better. If the weather gets bad while we are out we will turn back and try and find somewhere that the weather is better. If we need to and can we will get a hotel room that allows animals and stay the night there (of course with no extra charge).
Q: Do I have to be home for you to pick up?
A: As long as I have a way to get your dog no you do not have to be home. If we are camping all I ask is that you have food and whatever else you want us to bring all in one location to make it an easy pick up and to make sure that we have everything you want us to take.
Q: What food can you bring?
A: As long as it doesn't need to be frozen we can bring it. We have a cooler with ice for our food so we do have somewhere cool to put your dogs food if it need to be refigerated. If your dog food needs a can opener please tell us in advance so we can pack our can opener.
Q: Can my dog go if they have medications:
A: Yes! We can do medications on our adventures. Let us know ahead of time and we can bring everything we might need for the medications (e.g. medication cutter, cheese or pill pockets).
Q: What do we need to give you for them?
A: Your dog and food and medications (if needed) are the only things we require for you to give us. Things that we won't take are big fluffy beds (unless needed for arthritis or medical conditions), your leash (leashes might get dirty so we use our own), most toys. Things that we will take are bowls (certainly is they are slow feeders), treats, toys that can be cleaned easily, harness (with the knowledge that they will most likely get dirty). We will have beds, toys, bowls, treats, leashes, harnesses, food scoops.
